How to make twisted headbands

Today’s tutorial is on how to make twisted headbands it is going to be a very quick one straight to the point. But before starting the tutorial on how to make twisted headbands gather the following materials.

MATERIALS:

  • Fabrics
  • Pair of scissors
  • Elastic band

These are the materials for the tutorial on how to make twisted headbands

STEP 1- TAKE A FABRIC & CUT OUT THE MEASUREMENT

How to make twisted headbands

I’m going to make use of this beautiful print fabric, you can use any kind of fabric that you want to use. but I recommend something soft or maybe stretchy.

I have cut out my fabric it’s very simple .you just have to cut out this so cut out a length of 18 inches and the width of 7 inches as you can see and the second piece as well as the same 18 inches by seven inches .so you have two pieces of that. this one is going to be 11 inches by 3 inches.
the last thing to call that is your elastic band and that should be the length of 6 inches and the elastic band I’m using is just about half of an inch wide elastic.

STEP 2- SEW

STEP 1- TAKE A FABRIC

so what you want to do next is to take this your sewing machine, fold them right sides facing each other and you have to stitch by half of an inch across this way.
repeat the same thing to the second piece as well fold it and sew across by half of an inch seam allowance and you have to repeat the same thing to the third one as well fold it and give a stitch by half of an inch as well and this is done.

STEP 3- TURN OUT THE CLOTHES

what you want to do now is to turn them to the right size basically. for the bigger ones I’m able to use my hand and for this smaller one you can make use of a safety pin or scissors pen whatever you can use, turn it to the right side. then if you want you can go ahead and give it a good press but don’t press it too much so you don’t lose the fluffiness of the fabric. make sure you’re keeping the seam at the center.

STEP 4- SEW ALL PARTS TOGETHER

STEP 1- TAKE A FABRIC

put the bigger ones aside. Now take the smaller one and start inserting the elastic band. in order to insert the elastic band, I’m using my safety pin .just grab yourself a safety pin and attach it to the beginning of the elastic band, and put it inside the loop. once you’re done use the pin to keep it in place, so the elastic doesn’t go back in and then we have to stitch this at the end with a sewing machine.

next, you should grab your bigger piece and make sure that the seam line is facing up then you have to fold it into two as shown in the above image and then take an elastic band and place this elastic band piece on top of it. place it right in the middle of it and then fold both sides as you can see now stitch it as well but in order to keep things in place.

take note that at this point is going to be a little bit thick so you should try to use a machine needle that is strong enough to withstand the thickness of it

now take the second bigger piece make sure that the seam allowance is still facing up. you have to put it inside the loop. and then take the end of the elastic band piece place it at the middle and fold both sides over just like we did to the other one. Stitch with your sewing machine as well just do the same way you did to the first one.

STEP 5- YOUR TWISTED HEADBAND IS READY!

The next thing you have to do is to trim off all excesses and this is just to make sure that all lumpiness is taken away.
just flip it in that way and then once you’re done flipping it in just pull it out so it becomes really nice and you do the same thing to the other end as well
I just flip it in this way and then I pull it so that it becomes flat and completely hidden.

I told you it’s a quick and beautiful one as you can see we are done and it’s turned out so nice and beautiful and this is the size for almost any size of the head except for kids you will have to reduce the length to you know maybe you could reduce the length of those three pieces by three inches or so you can just give that a try. Hope you enjoyed the tutorial on How to make twisted headbands.
